Chief Legislative Council
The Chief Legislative Council (CLC) is the three-member body serving as the head of the Illuminatian government's Ultrabureau of the Legislative (UBL). The CLC is composed of one representative from each of the three legislative bodies of the ultrabureau's tricameral legislature—the Primary Assembly, the Ancillary Assembly, and the Paramount Assembly.
Of the top deliberative bodies of the four Illuminatian government ultrabureaus, the Chief Legislative Council is the smallest. The three other ultrabureaus are led by committees with many more members than the CLC. The CLC is also considered to be the least-powerful of the four chief bodies, with relatively few official functions delegated to it.
The primary formal responsibility of the CLC is for it to serve as the UBL's representation when ad hoc deliberative bodies are called to form from among the administrative heads of the government's four ultrabureaus. There are numerous situations outlined in Illuminatian law in which this can happen.
Most of the remaining power within the Ultrabureau of the Legislative falls within the democratic power of its three legislative bodies. Nearly all potential decisions that may arise from the Primary, Ancillary, and Paramount Assemblies are subject to a durable and enduring set of laws and policies that dictate at what point and by which processes legislation and other resolutions put forth by the legislative bodies are either finalized as law or rejected.
