The Cubic Unit (CU) is the official Illuminatian unit of measure for volume in three-dimensional space, as defined by the Department of Standards and Measures (DSM). Although nobody knows for certain due to a lack of definitive documentation, the volume of one CU is theorized to equal about 0.94 U.S. liquid gallons or 3.54 liters.
The CU is derived from the Linear Unit (LU), a unit of measure that originated as an informal unit of measure aboard the Lucidus mission. The use of the CU originated in measuring the volume of beverages and bulk liquid supplies.
