The Illuminatia Department of Health and Wellbeing (DHW) is an agency of the Illuminatian government responsible for overseeing programs, establishing standards, and providing resources that contribute to advancing the physical and emotional health of all residents of Illuminatia.

The most significant undertaking relating to these goals involves administering the publicly-funded system that guarantees access to minimum standards of health care for Illuminatians and provides funding to maintain or improve the health of individuals to meet established standards for wellbeing that align with DHW and BRC expectations for projected lifespan.

The DHW directly or indirectly supports hospitals, health clinics, infirmaries, and sanatoriums in Illuminatia, the vast majority of which are publicly funded.

Recreational facilities, parks, and leisure centers also receive DHW consideration supplementing their operations when they provide the public with facilities and activities that contribute to augmented fitness and health.

The DHW also uses incentive programs to encourage healthy decisions and lifestyles. Family units that choose to make dietary, fitness, and medical choices conducive to meeting a standard lifespan can benefit from significant subsidization of their nutritional, fitness, and elective or augmentative medical expenditures in addition to subsidies for other costs of living.

Medical research and innovation supporting the DHW's goals also is subject to oversight and financial assistance from the agency. Individuals can receive incentive payments for taking part in medical trials. The DHW funds research facilities and institutes engaging in activity likely to further DHW goals for improving health and wellbeing. The DHW further rewards entities that demonstrate evidence of these results. Efforts that have received DHW rewards in the past include projects resulting in the augmentation of the frequency range of human hearing.
