Office of Climate Information

The Illuminatia Office of Climate Information (OCI) is a government office operating within the Illuminatia Department of Climate and Meteorology (DCM) tasked with disseminating information relating to weather conditions and weather forecasts to the general public and other stakeholders.

The OCI employs meteorologists, climatologists, and hydrologists specially trained in the arts of public communication, journalism, and visual design. The office employs all modern mass communication mediums—including newspaper articles, wireless broadcasting, and telekinephotography—to provide convenient, accurate weather information to the people of Illuminatia.

The Office of Climate Information is also responsible for supplying specialized climate and weather information to the various government entities and commercial interests that hold particular interest in utilizing climatic data and forecasting. OCI climate information in government, for instance, is used by the DCC's Office of Disaster Prevention (ODP) so that it can help the public be better-prepared for future natural disasters and other cataclysmic incidents. Commercial interests pay a user fee to support the OCI's operations in exchange for information that might be of use to maritime and aeronautical navigation, public transit, consumer demand forecasting, and other commercially proprietary purposes.

The OCI manages the Meteorological Data Distribution Service (MDDS), which is the OCI's broadcast network that broadly disseminates meteorological observation and forecasting information directly to the general public, similar to a government-run "weather channel." The OCI ambitiously intends to eventually make such a network accessible to 100% of the Illuminatian population.
