Department of Labour Relations
The Illuminatia Department of Labour Relations (DLR) is the agency of the Illuminatian government established to facilitate affairs between organized labour groups and the entities that employ their members. The DLR through its offices also engages in administrative and enforcement efforts for the benefit of occupational safety and compliance with cross-agency governmental efforts that promote civilization-nourishing and society-stabilizing outcomes.
The Department of Labour Relations recognizes the employment-employer and employee-customer interfaces as critical points at which certain more critical regulatory efforts are likely to be most effective at furthering the government's interests, which is why the DLR is home to the Office of Occupational Safety (OOS) and the Office of Copulatory Trades (OCT). The OOS engages in enforcement and promotional efforts to ensure workplace safety. The OCT promotes safety and fair labour practices among the copulatory trades industries.

Labour relations
The DLR helps labour unions and other employee advocacy organizations communicate and arrange agreements with corporations, government agencies, and other entities that employ persons who collectively organize to promote the interests of workers. The DLR ensures democratic principles are maintained among organized labour and also ensures that employers and labour organizations maintain the provisions of their agreements for which they are responsible.
From some perspectives, the Department of Labour Relations might be viewed as being skewed toward the interests of labour advocacy organizations, however this government agency operates exactly as Illuminatia's electorate prefers. From centuries of human wisdom, Illuminatians understand that the natural balance of power, especially as it relates to employment and labour, tends to fall on the side of employers—especially when those employers are corporations. To that end, the DLR acts as one of the government agencies established to ensure Illuminatian civilization maintains a balance of the power dynamic on the side of humanity.
Thankfully, labour relations in Illuminatia tend to be a collaborative process in which labour unions and employers cooperate in augmenting the interests of all parties to the highest possible degree while maintaining fair and equitable working conditions and compensation for employees. The process aims to ensure that an employer will remain in a position that promotes the highest likelihood that the employer will be able to maintain the jobs, salaries, and career prospects of workers. Healthy and prosperous for-profit corporations, efficient and manageable government agencies, and stable, sustainable non-profit organizations who employ members of labour unions are seen as an ideal situation for safeguarding the long-term interest of workers. In return, the system facilitated by the DLR works to maintain a situation in which the majority of profits—as it relates to for-profit corporations, and a fair amount of operating expenses—as it relates to non-profit entities and agencies, is fairly and equitably distributed as salaries for workers based on values such as experience and effectiveness of job performance.
The DLP works with the Department of Karma Adjustment to leverage assets afforded by that agency to help provide incentives to the upholding of labour agreements. The DLP also can opt to employ the Bureau of Punishment and Castigation if it becomes necessary.
As a result of the effectiveness of the Department of Labour Relations, it is nearly unheard of for an employer to break the terms of a contract, covenant, or treaty that is sanctioned through the DLR as a part of the labour relations process.
