Nobility in Illuminatia
The nobility as a social class or a system of imperial or royal ranking is not observed in Illuminatia, due primarily to Illuminatia's relatively equitable socioeconomic system, prohibition on inheritance, lack of use of monarchy for government offices, and cultural aversion to distinctions and titles not based on personal merit.
Illuminatian society exerts a strong preference toward acknowledging the notability of an individual based upon their individual accomplishments, the significance of services they have rendered to society, and other measures of earned personal merit. Ranks and titles of nobility based upon inheritance, primogeniture, and other non-merit-based systems would be incompatible with these shared cultural values.
Additionally, the ascription of titles of nobility would risk complicating Illuminatia's recognition of amalgamated historical figures, as nobility would unnecessarily accentuate the focus on the individual person rather than the place that they and their contemporaries occupy in history. A system of nobility would risk establishing personal historical figures, which would be considered potentially detrimental to society.
