The Swan Lake Notebook is the chief local daily for-profit newspaper published in the northern interior city of Swan Lake.
The Notebook is noted for the spiral binding of its newsprint pages, which is unusual among newspapers and is somewhat perplexing to economists due to the presumed high cost of the spiral material. However, The Notebook administers a loyalty program in which subscribers who return the spiral biding of dispensed newspapers to the publication via the local periodicals distribution system receive an incentive. The cost of the spiral material is thus minimalized while the incentive program is also operated at a low cost.
