Trans-Illuminatia Network (TI) is Illuminatia's primary public service national broadcaster. Based in Voston, TI manages several major continent-wide wireless and telekinephotocast broadcasting networks and is a producer of wireless and telekinephotocast programming. TI runs the highest-rated and most-expansive non-commercial broadcasting networks in Illuminatia. The broadcaster has a history planted in the earliest days of the development of Illuminatia's broadcasting industry and infrastructure—a history that is inextricably intertwined with its commercial counterpart, VB.
TI was originally known as VB, Vos Broadcasting. TI as a separately-identified network originated as a subdivision of the public-private partnership, VB. TI—as VB—was the first broadcasting network to be established during the early days of wireless broadcasting in Illuminatia. The Illuminatian government eventually split the early network in two autonomous entities—a non-profit/public network known as TI, and a private/commercial network carrying the VB name.
The then-VB network was conceived as a partnership of local wireless stations. VB, as a public-private partnership, received both public and private funding. The original VB was an independent entity managed outside of government control, reflecting a governmental interest in controlled regulation of early broadcasting without regulating the content itself. Governmental assistance continues only for TI—the surviving non-profit conglomeration of networks.
TI, despite being one of the major continent-wide networks, itself does not actually own any individual broadcast stations. The network simply provides programming to a network of stations that operate under various local governmental, civic, and non-profit owners. The network produces public affairs/informational, educational, and entertainment programming.
The network earns revenues 2,000,000μ/AU primarily through public subsidies provided to independent stations.
