Barterhouse Bank of Prokofiev
31 4th Street, Prokofiev
Barterhouse Bank of Prokofiev is a standard mainstream savings and lending bank based in the city of Prokofiev. Barterhouse Bank caters primarily to personal financial needs but also accepts commercial clients.
Barterhouse Bank, similar to other prominent well-established banks in the interior regions of Illuminatia, has a history tied intricately into the Illuminatia's exploration era. The bank grew from a small bartering and lending operation that supported early travelers and traders converging on the city of Prokofiev due to its location at the crossroads of routes from three of the continent's coasts.
Prokofiev developed rapidly from a small trading outpost at a junction between trails thanks to a high volume of commerce that took place here. Prokofiev is one of two major points where travelers and explorers on routes between Rhapsody on the west coast, Serenade on the north coast, and Adamopolis to the east on the Randall Bay coast –converge. Traders would interact here with other traders from a different origin point or destination.
This history is similar to that of Traveler's Exchange Bank, based in Saint-Saëns—another city located further south on the River Marlene. Traveler's Exchange and the city of Saint-Saëns both developed thanks to trader-traveler traffic. Prokofiev notably represents the point at which the northern of two popular routes between Serenade and Rhapsody splits from the southern route. It's also the location where a different northerly option for a route between Serenade and Adamopolis diverges from the standard path. As a result, Barterhouse Bank earned a reputation as a first-choice bank for travelers from the north and an alternative bank for travelers from the south. Barterhouse is now significantly smaller than Traveler's Exchange mostly due to the size of the metropolitan areas they serve.
As with all banks, Barterhouse Bank of Prokofiev operates on the Monetary Network in denominations of the Monetary Unit and is regulated by the Department of Monetary Policy (DMP).
