Office of Cross-Species Collaboration
The Illuminatia Office of Cross-Species Collaboration (OCC) is a government office operating within the Illuminatia Bureau of Natural Resources (BNR). The OCC coordinates conservation efforts that promote symbiotic relationships between humans and other species residing in the natural environment.
The act of establishing the OCC was an intentional action intended to signal to the human civilization inhabiting the Neonisi planet that the BNR would make it a goal to ensure humans exist in harmony with and not in opposition to other flora and fauna, a perspective that was lacking in earlier Earthly civilizations.
The OCC supports naturalists, researchers, and other scientists who investigate what actions of humans enhance or degrade the natural ecosystems of Neonisi. The OCC also backs programs that promote a harmonious coexistence of the homo sapien guests in Illuminatia with the species of plantlife and animal life that preexisted humans on the continent.
The OCC works closely with the BNR's Office of Ecosystem Conservation (OEC). The OEC focuses on handling the interaction with the natural environment that occurs when lifeforms are harvested from the environment or when infrastructure and other modifications of the natural landscape interfere with existing species. The OCC maintains a broader perspective in encouraging sustainable coexistence. Both offices maintain efforts to comprehensively catalogue the species present in Illuminatia and to fully document the discovery of previously unknown species.
The OCC balances human existence with the presumed or expressed interests of other species on the planet. Groundbreaking exploration is underway to survey the flora and fauna and their reactions to the environment to establish ways in which humans might collaborate with those living things and ways in which they might support one another.
In the event another sentient, intelligent being is encountered on or within Neonisi, the OCC would take the lead in establishing protocols to approach such a species or civilization and coordinate a peaceful, non-genocidal existence between species.
