Rhapsody Mutual is a major local non-profit newspaper published in the city of Rhapsody. Rhapsody Mutual is smallest of the major publications in Rhapsody, but is the most dominant of the city's non-profit newspapers. Rhapsody Mutual maintains a reputation for investigating and deeply analyzing issues of importance to minority populations in the city, which is a niche largely neglected by the Mutual's primary for-profit competitors, the Rhapsody Tribune and the Rhapsody Daily.
As is the case with most non-profit newspapers, ownership of the Rhapsody Mutual is held by a volunteer board of directors who are nominated to their positions by specified leaders within Rhapsody's various minority communities. The people and organizations delegated power to elect members to specific seats on the Mutual's board are outlined in the newspaper's bylaws.
Roughly 95% of the Rhapsody Mutual's circulation and readership come from the newspaper's local distribution, with a Local Edition circulation of 1,198,000 and a Regional Edition circulation of 67,000. While regional circulation throughout the West Coast Megalopolitan Complex might not contribute a large amount to the Mutual's total circulation of 1,265,000 and likewise does not contribute hugely to its total income stream of 703,000μ in revenue per AU, the newspaper continues to faithfully serve its regional audience with a good deal of editorial content relevant to the greater region.
The Rhapsody Mutual carries a newsstand price of 32mμ, which is slightly higher than its local competition, however this price can be reduced through membership in the organization or via a subscription.
