'Second Multiversal Duplication
The Second Multiversal Duplication refers to the population of one of the three multiversal duplications of the survivors of the Lucidus mission who originally populated the continent of Illuminatia. The Second Multiversal Duplication settled in primary settlement cities the western and southern regions of the continent. This region of Illuminatia continues to be predominantly populated by descendants of the Second Multiversal Duplication, though migration has blurred this distinction.
The Second Multiversal Duplication can also be used to refer to the land occupied predominantly by descendants of the Second Multiversal Duplication. These lands in western and southern Illuminatia extend from the predominantly coastal primary settlement cities to include regions around the secondary and tertiary settlement cities that were founded by the original settlers and their offspring.
The region occupied by the Second Multiversal Duplication is spread from the northwesternmost to the southeasternmost coastal extents of the Illuminatian continent and includes nearly all land to the west of the Transilluminatian Range, which proved to be an incredibly effective barrier to exploration by surveyors and voyagers from either side of the mountain range. As a result of this geographic obstacle, the Second Multiversal Duplication managed to avoid contact with the First and the Third multiversal duplications for a longer period into Illuminatia's period of exploration. Due to this relative isolation, the population of the Third Multiversal Duplication acquired a set of nuanced cultural differences from the rest of Illuminatia which are thought to originate primarily from geographic and climatic influences. When contemporary anthropologists noted this difference in peer-reviewed published literature, government agencies undertook efforts to make attempts to smooth any real or perceived difference in political, economic, or cultural power between the Second Multiversal Duplication and its easterly peers. Significant efforts were made to prevent the potential isolation and what was feared to become a resulting loss of influence of the Second Multiversal Duplication that might result from its greater geographic isolation from its two fellow multiversal duplications to the west of the Transilluminatian Range.
Rhapsody is the largest city within the Second Multiversal Duplication. Other important metropolitan areas in the Second Multiversal Duplication include Requiem in the southwest and Symphony in the south. The West Coast Megalopolitan Complex, Southwestern Megalopolitan Complex, and the South Coast Megalopolitan Complex all reside within the bounds of the Second Multiversal Duplication.
The region of the Second Multiversal Duplication was home to the Western Commission on The Anomaly, an early governmental committee established exclusively to provide representation to the perspective of the population of the Second Multiversal Duplication relating to The Anomaly in a vacuum of the other two multiversal duplications.
The protolucidian sub-language of Western Lucidian sees its usage almost exclusively within the bounds of the Second Multiversal Duplication in southwestern Illuminatia. The Quasilucidian sub-language also sees much of its heaviest usage within the territory of the Second Multiversal Duplication, particularly throughout the South Coast Megalopolitan Complex.
