Community moderation agencies
A community moderation agency is an organization or commercial enterprise that is permitted to engage in Karmic Unit transactions on behalf of parties that enlist the agency to assist in moderating karmic exchanges or civil dispute using a karmic exchange. Community moderation agencies are overseen by the Office of Community Moderation (OCM), an agency of the Department of Karma Adjustment (DKA).
Individuals and/or entities when pursuing a karmic transaction may elect to employ a community moderation agency to assist, preside over, or otherwise facilitate a Karmic Unit transaction. This is a common choice when the situation is especially complex or when the stakes are unusually high, such as in a contentious civil dispute. Community moderation agencies are useful when the parties involved in a situation wish not to resort to legal or criminal law means.
A community moderation agency will help two or more individuals or other entities communicate and come to an agreement regarding the type of karmic exchange they will ultimately engage in. When an agreement is reached, the community moderation agency then verifies the details, runs the contract through a process of checks to ensure fairness, effects the actual Karmic Unit transaction, and then verifies that the karmic rebalancing activity prescribed takes place. The use of a community moderation agency is an effective way to ensure a party in the karmic transaction is engaging in a karmic debalancing maneuver.
By Department of Karmic Adjustment rules, no entity other than the persons engaging directly in an exchange may make Karmic Unit transactions on behalf of an individual or entity unless they are registered and in good standing with the OCM as a community moderation agency. A community moderation is the only third party that may alter an individual's Karmic Unit balance, and may only do so if all the parties involved agree to let the agency act on their behalf.
The DKA regulates community moderation agencies. All community moderation agencies must be registered with the DKA. The DKA ensures that community moderation agencies engage in reasonable and equitable karmic transactions that are agreeable to the parties who enlist their assistance.
Private individuals as well as corporations, organizations, and government entities my employ a community moderation agency. A community moderation agency is only hired if all of the parties involved in the karmic exchange agree to do so.
Community moderation agencies are only able to transact in Karmic Units. They may not moderate civil disputes involving the exchange of monetary units or any property or objects of value.
