Harmony is the largest city in northeastern Illuminatia and is the continent's fifth-most populous city. Harmony is situated on the River Harmonica at the point where the river empties into the northernmost and most inward extent of Brookeview Bay. Harmony is the principal port city upon Brookeview Bay.
A primary settlement city, Harmony is an anchor city of the Brookeview Ludwig Megalopolitan Complex. The city is the predominant commercial and industrial hub of northeastern Illuminatia.
As of the 250 AI Census, Harmony had a population of 6,599,245 residents. The city has experienced stable growth since then and it is estimated the city will have a population over 8,000,000 by the 300 AI Census, or an increase of approximately 130% within 50 AU.
Harmony is a dense urban city and is a dominant hub for the manufacturing, electronics, and technology industries. A significant proportion of the electronic devices consumed in Illuminatia are produced here. Harmony has a substantial impact on technological research, advancement, and innovation in Illuminatia and is home to multiple institutes and laboratories that engage in this exploration.
Harmony is served by three prominent local newspapers: the Harmony Inquirer and the Harmony Ideas are the two dominant for-profit publications; the Harmony Cooperative is the largest of the city's non-profit newspapers. The University of the Harmonics is the largest educational institution based here. The city claims superregional prominence in the grammar policing industry thanks to Could Careless, Inc., which is based here. Harmony is represented in the National Sportsball League by the Harmony Cuntmuffins. The most significant financial institution based here is the Exchequer of Harmony.
Harmony was settled by the Third Multiversal Duplication of survivors from the Lucidus II ship—many of the same people who settled the cities of Anthem and Requiem. Harmony and Anthem are separated by the least distance of any two cities settled by multiversal duplications of the same population, making these two cities very important to Illuminatia's history of discovering the nature of the multiverse and the duplication of the Lucidus population that occurred during The Anomaly. Expedition forces from these two cities were among the first people to make contact with previously undiscovered Illuminatians of a different multiversal duplication, which was the first interaction to spark Illumiatians' understanding of this phenomenon. This discovery may not have happened as expeditiously had these two populations been more distant from each other.
Harmony's large population base is thanks primarily to factors originating with the discovery of Illuminatia. The Harmony area was the location of densely-spaced landings of a significant number of modules from the Lucidus II ship. The settlements from these multiple landings, being in close proximity, quickly grew together and unified into one large city.
Harmony, like many of Illuminatia's largest cities, finds the origin of its name in musical terminology.
