Concerto Island is Illuminatia's third-largest and southernmost major non-continental land mass. Situated to the east of the Concertino Headlands, Concerto Island is bounded on the northeast by Symphonic Bay and to the south by the Periterranean Sea.
Concerto Island is separated from the mainland to its west by the Concertino Channel, which serves as a busy maritime shortcut between Symphonic Bay coastal cities like Symphony and Allegro and southeastern coastal metropolises like Clapton and Requiem. A detached portion of the Chromatic Range extends southeastward onto the interior of the island, affording the island with a hilly terrain and assorted mountain peaks of an unassuming stature.
The climate on Concerto Island is relatively tropical, with ample rainfall and warm temperatures. Seasons fluctuations throughout the Annual Unit involve swings between moderately dry periods with nearly-uncomfortable heat and excessively wet periods with almost-cool temperatures. The island's southern coast is unprotected and experiences the sometimes dramatic effects of its exposure to organized storm systems from the southern oceanic basin. Elevated regions of the Chromatic Range experience wet, temperate conditions. The Lipozancudo is endemic to the island and surrounding regions of southern Illuminatia.
The island's largest city, Legato, sits on the western coast along the Concertino Channel and serves as a major transportation and shipping link to mainland Illuminatia. Scarborough Fair is a southwestern coastal city that dominates Concerto Island's culture and media. With the exception of Supplicium Island—a small land mass of which nearly all Illuminatian residents are unaware—Concerto Island is home to Illuminatia's southernmost geographic points, making the island a popular destination for geographic expeditionary activities and interplanetary astronomical observation.
Concerto Island was settled by descendants of the second multiversal duplication of the Lucidus III ship. The island's inhabitants share a common ancestry with the population of the Symphonic Bay region, the South Coast Megalopolitan Complex, and much of southern Illuminatia to the east of the Chromatic Range.
